DLNR Releases Monk Seal Viewing Video

Marine wildlife officials are advising the public to keep their distance and avoid disturbing endanger Hawaiian monk seals and their pups on beaches and in nearshore waters across the state.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, City and County of Honolulu Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services, and Hawaii Marine Mammal Response have teamed up to provide safe-viewing information for people to avoid any encounters between them and these powerful—sometimes aggressive—animals.

DLNR is contacting lodging and tourism associations to make this video available to them for sharing with clients. DLNR is also providing this video to news organizations.
