Pāhoa Fire Destroys Home

Big Island firefighters responded to the report of a structure blaze at 14-3389 Lehua Road in Pāhoa on Monday, July 3, 2017, at 8:25 p.m.

They arrived on the scene to find a 1,300-square-foot single-story, single-family, wooden dwelling with a corrugated metal roof fully involved structure flames.

The fire spread to immediate brush/foliage in the surrounding area; no other structures were threatened. 

Traffic was detoured to Pikake Road.

Two occupants were refered to Red Cross for assistance.

Damage was estimated at $195,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
