Big Island Surf Forecast

Hilo side: Wave heights are forecast to be waist/shoulder high today by sunset.

Kona side: Wave heights are expected to be knee/waist high with the best breaks getting up to chest high on the sets.

South: Wave heights are expected to be knee/waist high with the best breaks getting up to chest high on the sets.

No significant swells are expected this week out of the south but some background swell will keep conditions from being completely flat. Wednesday / Thursday we’ll see a modest new pulse of south-southwest, with another small pulse expected for the weekend.

Trade winds are picking back up and east swell will rise as a result. Small Craft Advisory conditions will also start to occur in our coastal waters, especially for the second half of the work week.

A fun out of season north-northwest swell is expected to hold through the morning before fading through the rest of the work week.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
