The Food Basket on Hawai‘i Island is selling limited edition Aloha Grown “Malama” t-shirts in an effort to raise funds to feed hungry families.
The limited edition shirts–which were designed and printed through the cooperation of Aloha Grown, Creative Arts Hawai‘i and Parker Ranch Store–will be sold for $20 each. All proceeds with benefit The Food Basket on Hawai‘i Island.
“The Food Basket has done so much to support the most vulnerable in our community – our kupuna and keiki…now it’s our turn to kokua,” said Randy Kurohara, president and owner of Aloha Grown, Creative Arts Hawai’i and the Parker Ranch Store. “We truly believe in giving back to the community. Through this ‘Malama’ Tee fundraiser, we hope to raise up to $20,000 for The Food Basket.”
The shirtʻs design incorporates green fern leaves representing the earth and blue waves symbolizing water–crucial elements for producing food. “Malama” was selected as the shirt theme in order to “care for, preserve and protect” the Islandʻs resources to provide food for local communities.

The Food Basket provides nutritious and high quality to 1 in every 3 Hawai‘i Island residents through its partner agencies, including families, children and seniors who might otherwise go hungry. Every shirt purchase will allow The Food Basket to help feed seven children breakfast for one week, one senior lunch for over a month, and en entire family dinner for a week.
