BIDC Celebrates National Drug Court Month

May is “National Drug Court Month,” which celebrates the benefits drug courts bring to communities through the successful treatment of drug offenders.

The Big Island Drug Court (BIDC) is celebrating “National Drug Court Month” with a variety of events throughout May in Hilo and Kona.

In addition to the Big Island Drug Court events scheduled (see below) for “National Drug Court Month,” the public is welcome to observe any drug court hearings.

In Kona, drug court is held on Mondays starting at 9 a.m. at Kona Drug Court, 81-940 Haleki‘i St. in Kealakekua.

In Hilo, drug court is held on Thursdays beginning at 1 p.m. at Hilo Drug Court, Hale Kaulike, 777 Kīlauea Ave.

2017 Drug Court Appreciation Day at Hilo Drug Court

The Big Island Drug Court will acknowledge employers, sponsors, family members, and community members for their support of the drug court participants and the Drug Court Program.

May 18, 1:30 p.m.
40th Big Island Drug Court Graduation at Hilo Drug Court
777 Kīlauea Ave. in Hilo
The presenting of each graduate and recognizing his or her success in the program.

May 26, 11:30 a.m.
2017 Drug Court Appreciation Day in Kona
West Hawaii Civic Center
The BIDC will acknowledge employers, sponsors, family members and community members for their support of our drug court participants and the Drug Court Program with a special luncheon.

May 26, 2– 4:30 p.m.
Drug Court Community Service Project
Food Drive at KTA Superstores in Kailua-Kona to support the Food Basket
Kona Drug Court participants will collect canned foods, bags of rice, and monetary gifts to support the Food Basket in feeding the hungry in our community.

Drug Court Community Service Project – Food Drive at KTA Superstores located on Puainako Street, Hilo
The Hilo Drug Court participants will be collecting canned foods, bags of rice, and monetary gifts to support the Food Bank.
