Rebecca Folsom Returning to Volcano
Rebecca Folsom is returning to Volcano Art Center’s (VAC) Niaulani Campus on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 7 – 9 p.m. for an intimate, acoustic concert. Tickets are $25 and $20 for VAC Members.
The award-winning artist hailing from Boulder, Colorado has performed on BBC radio and television, Nashville’s Bluebird, New York’s Bitterend and Red Rock’s Amphitheater in Colorado. Her music is described as having the soulfulness of Etta James, the abandon of Janis Joplin, and a touch of folk songstress Joni Mitchell. Last year was a sell-out concert in Volcano.
Folsom’s is recognized for her impressive vocal range and flowing expression. Her songs tell stories of human heartbreak, redemption and freedom. She said performing on stage is where she feels most comfortable. “There is no place on earth that I want to be more. I’m happiest there, time flies there. It’s timeless, effortless and it brings me so much joy. My hope is always that it will bring other people joy, upliftment and awakening,” she said.
In addition, aspiring singers will have an opportunity to learn from Folsom at “The Art of Vocal Freedom” workshop on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 10 – 2 p.m. where she will show participants how to tap into their authentic voices with ease and flow. The fee is $50 plus a $10 supply fee.
