The National Weather Service has extended the High Surf Warning through this evening for the shores of Kohala, Hāmākua, Hilo and Puna.

A High Surf Warning means there is a significant threat to life and property. Surf as high as 25 feet for these shores is forecasted.

You are advised to exercise caution due to the unpredictability of huge swells and dangerous surf.

A High Surf Warning means there is a significant threat to life and property.

Oceanfront residents and beachgoers along the affected shores are advised to be on the alert for possible high and dangerous surf which may lead to beach and road closures.

Due to the High Surf impacts and debris clean-up, the following closures are in effect:

  • Bayfront Highway
  • All Hilo Beach Parks
  • Laupahoehoe Boat Ramp
  • Keokea Beach Park
