Fire Destroys Hilo Lanes Storage Building

Fire units responded to a report of a blaze at the “Hilo Lanes” building 777 Kino‘ole St. Hilo on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 2:25 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 400-square-foot storage building attached to “Hilo Lanes,” a vacant commercial property, engulfed in flames.

The first units on the scene brought the fire quickly under control and remaining units were used for support.

Firefighters remained on scene to complete the overhaul of the building.

There appeared to only have minimal fire incursion to the main building.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.

Damage was estimated at $40,000.
