Fire and Police Departments Tend to Gunshot Victim

Upon arrival at on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at 4:53 p.m., Big Island firefighters found HPD first responders conducting life-saving measures on a male  who had been shot and was laying on the side of Highway 11, just south of Kipimana St., Hilo-bound.

Traffic was restricted to one lane.

Hawai‘i Fire Department  personnel took over medical treatment from HPD, continued CPR and awaited the arrival of a medical team .

The victim was then transported to Hilo Medical Center.
