Firefighters Extinguish Keauhou Home Blaze

Hawaii Fire Department LogoThe Keauhou Fire Company responded to a structure fire at 79-7212 Māmalahoa Highway in  Keauhou at 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single-story, single-wall wood structure, with storage under a portion of the structure, fully engulfed in flames.

Structural collapse of the roof, wall and floor made it difficult to extinguish the fire.

Keauhou, Kailua and Captain Cook Fire Companies able to control the blaze and extinguished the fire at 12:20 a.m.

A single occupant was able to exit the resident unharmed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage is estimated at $118,000.
