Flags to Fly at Half-Staff for Former Israel President
At the direction of President Barack Obama, the US flag and the Hawai‘i state flag will be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol, all state offices and agencies, and the Hawai‘i National Guard in the State of Hawai‘i immediately, until sunset on Sept. 30, 2016.
This action is a mark of respect for the memory of former President and Prime Minister of Israel Shimon Peres.
The former president shared a Nobel Peace Prize for forging a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians.
He served as Israel’s president from 2007 to 2014.
Peres was 93 years old.
