Classes Offer Tools for Family Caregivers
Hawaii Community Caregiver Network, an all-volunteer nonprofit based in Kona, will offer “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” classes in Kona beginning in July.
PTC is a free series of six, two-hour classes designed to help family members cope with the demands of caring for their loved ones.
Classes are led by a pair of trained community volunteers—most of whom are family caregivers themselves.
This nationwide program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, increase their ability to make tough decisions, learn about resources and balance their lives.
To see the content of each session, look at the PTC national website.
The classes will be held weekly at Hawaii County Office of Aging in the West Hawaii Civic Center on Tuesdays, July 12 to Aug. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.
There’s a limit of 10 participants; light snacks will be available.
Pre-registration is required: call Loli Paranada at 936-6499.
