DI State Volleyball Tournament Opens Tuesday

Waiakea High School and Kamehameha-Hawai’i will both vie for their first state volleyball championships this week at the New City Nissan/Hawai’i High School Athletic Association Division I State Volleyball Championships, held on Oahu.

Tuesday’s first round matches include a feature meeting between Kahuku and Waiakea at Moanalua High School. The Warriors, runner-up in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, went 11-3 in league play. On the other side, the Red Raiders finished Oahu Interscholastic Association play with a 12-2 record, good for third place in the league. The match can be seen on OC16.

Kamehameha-Hawai’i, the BIIF’s regular season and overall champion, earned a first-round bye and will await the winner of Tuesday’s match between Kamehameha-Kapalama and Waipahu. Wednesday’s match can be seen on OC16 XCast.

Friday’s championship match will be played at the Neal Blaisdell Arena on Oahu. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
