Small NW Builds Later Today

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all Big Island leeward and southeast waters through 6 a.m. Friday. The Alenuihaha channel is also included in this advisory. The advisory could be extended if conditions persist.

Hilo side: Wave heights for spots exposed to the shifting swell are expected to be chest high today. The best breaks could get bigger on the sets.
Kona side: Wave heights are expected to be under waist high today.
South: Wave heights are expected to be under waist high.
A small northwest swell his forecast to build late Friday and will bring increasing surf to north and west facing shores.
A large northwest swell is expected to build late Sunday and peak on Monday, likely bringing warning level surf to north and west facing shores of most of the islands into Tuesday.
Another large northwest swell is due to arrive Wednesday night into Thursday next week.
Not much expected from the SPAC. Just background southern hemi surf expected.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
