Rescue crews from the Hawai’i County Fire Department recovered the body of a male visitor at “End of the World” in Keauhou on Monday.

Hawai’i County Fire Department Assistant Batallion Chief Ty Medeiros told Big Island Now that the 36-year-old man went swimming in an area that had large waves and swells. His girlfriend left to call 9-1-1 after he struggled to get out of the water. By the time she returned, he was missing.

Members of HFD’s Keauhou Fire Station, along with the United States Coast Guard actively searched the area.
