Konawaena High School graduate Courtney Kaupu is playing a big role in one of Chaminade’s most successful seasons in program history.

Kaupu earned her first PacWest Women’s Basketball Defender of the Week award on Monday after doing some of the tough work in Saturday’s 62-58 win over Fresno Pacific University. Along with her eight points, she grabbed nine rebounds and recorded a career-best five steals to help Chaminade snap a five-game losing skid and lead the Silverswords to its best eight-game conference start in program history.

Kaupu, a 2013 graduate of Konawaena, spent her first two seasons at Centralia College in the state of Washington. For the season, Ka’upu is averaging 10.2 ppints per game and 4.1 rebounds per game.
