The state Department of Transportation has issued the following lane closure report for Hawai‘i Island for Jan. 2 through 8.

Schedules may change at any time without further notice.

HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

HAKALAU – WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK
Alternating lane closures on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau (Route 19, Milepost 16) in both directions over a 24-hour period, seven days a week for bridge rehabilitation. Travel speed on Umauma Bridge is reduced to 20 mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.

KA‘AWALI‘I GULCH
Alternating single lane closures on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway in the vicinity of Ka‘awali‘i Gulch on Monday, Jan. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for roadway improvements.

PEPE‘EKEO TO HAKALAU
Alternating single lane closures on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Kulaimano Road and Kauniho Road in the vicinity of Pepeekeo to Hakalau on Monday, Jan. 4, through Friday, Jan. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadway improvements.

LAUPAHOEHOE GULCH
Alternating single lane closures on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Jardine Road and Pu‘ualaea Homestead Road in the vicinity of Laupahoehoe Gulch on Monday, Jan. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for roadway improvements.

KEA‘AU-PAHOA ROAD

PAHOA – WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK
24-hour detour on the Kea‘au-Pahoa Bypass Road in both directions between Pahoa Market Place and Kahakai Boulevard through May 2016 for the construction of the Pahoa Roundabout. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to direct traffic at the Kahakai Boulevard/Pahoa Village Road intersection. Motorists are advised to drive through the detour with caution.
