HI-PAL Winter Classic Returns in December

The Hawai’i Isle Police Activities League is looking for teams to participate in its 34th annual Winter Basketball Classic, held Dec. 26-29 at various East Hawai’i gymnasiums.

Registration is underway for teams in various age groups. For 8-and-under age group teams, the registration price is $60, but is $20 higher for all other age groups. Outer island teams can register for the tournament at a cost of $25 per team. The deadline to enter is Nov. 27.

Different age groups will be split up in various locations. Teams from the 8-and-under, Boys 9-10, and Girls 10-and-under divisions will play at the Edith Kanakaole Multi-Purpose Stadium, while the Boys 11-12 and the Girls 12-and-under will compete at the Hilo Armory. The Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium will hold the Boys 13-14 and Girls 14-and-under competition.

Registration packets are available at any police station islandwide or at the County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation website.
