Wild Food Plants of Hawai’i Big Island Tour
Sunny Savage, author of Wild Food Plants of Hawai’i, will begin her inter-island book tour journey on the Big Island, spreading the message of “one wild food every day.”
“Wild foods are free, nutritious, and widely available…what’s not to love?” says Sunny Savage. In her 2014 TedxMaui talk, Savage highlights how personal and planetary health are improved through eating just one wild food every day.
Events happening on the tour offer people from around the islands the opportunity to learn the practical tools needed for successfully foraging in Hawai’i.
The tour will come through the Big Island between Nov. 4 and Nov. 10 with six scheduled events, including:
Pahoa: Nov. 4 at La’akea Farm
Honoka’a: Nov. 6 at Taro Patch
Hilo: Nov. 7 at Basically Books
Kapaau: Nov. 8 at a “Secret Location”
Kailua-Kona: Nov. 9 at Island Naturals
Hōlualoa: Nov. 10 at Bourain Farm
Details of the tour can be found online at the Sunny Savage or Wild Food Plants websites.
