Officer Ellsworth Fontes has been named the Kona Crime Prevention Committee’s “Officer of the Year.”

The honor came to Officer Fontes for his outstanding performance as a Community Policing officer.

Overseer of Community Policing in West Hawai’i Sergeant Floyd Richards said that he has received praise of Office Fontes’ work in the community.

“Just recently I received a letter of appreciation from Pualani Estates residents recognizing him as an outstanding individual and being a wonderful asset to their board and community,” Sergeant Richards wrote in April when nominating Fontes as “Officer of the Month.”
