Fontes Named ‘Officer of the Year’
Officer Ellsworth Fontes has been named the Kona Crime Prevention Committee’s “Officer of the Year.”
The honor came to Officer Fontes for his outstanding performance as a Community Policing officer.
Overseer of Community Policing in West Hawai’i Sergeant Floyd Richards said that he has received praise of Office Fontes’ work in the community.
“Just recently I received a letter of appreciation from Pualani Estates residents recognizing him as an outstanding individual and being a wonderful asset to their board and community,” Sergeant Richards wrote in April when nominating Fontes as “Officer of the Month.”
According to Sergeant Richards, Officer Fontes clearly understands the purpose, objectives, practices, and procedures of Community Policing.
Aside from his Community Policing duties, Officer Fontes has also completed numerous arrests, citations, court document, criminal cases, and miscellaneous complaints.
All officers nominated as West Hawai’i “Officer of the Month” were eligible for the “Officer of the Year” title.
