In Monday’s original story, Big Island Now noted that Jimmy Rivera “continued to fight officers.” The statement was made following the Hawai’i Police Department’s release on the incident mentioning that men became confrontational and challenged officers. Big Island Now misplaced the word officers, as the release stated Rivera continued to fight but did not describe who he continued to fight with.
Big Island Now also wishes to clarify the use of pepper spray. The Hawai’i Police Department did not specifiy any individual who was sprayed directly. Pepper spray was used to disburse the crowd during Saturday morning’s affray.
