Gas prices on the Big Island continue their slow, but steady, increase. The average cost of regular fuel was $3.26 in Hilo Friday, followed by mid-grade and premium at $3.36 and $3.47, respectively.

The prices are up two cents from Thursday but just one cent up from what they were the same time last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.

Hilo gas prices have seen a continuous upward trend with intermittent fluctuations. One month ago, prices were nearly eight cents less than they currently are.

On the other hand, compared to one year ago, Hilo fuel prices have decreased by nearly an entire dollar. AAA reports that the average price for regular gas at this time in 2014 was $4.18.
