More Regional Honors for UH-Hilo’s Aubrey, Salinas

University of Hawai’i at Hilo seniors Colleen Aubrey and Vanessa Salinas were named to the 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-West Region Second Team Thursday.

For Aubrey, it’s the latest in a long list of awards earned over the past week. The outfielder was named to the All-PacWest First Team, along with teammate Emily Greene. Earlier this week, she was named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-West Region Second Team.

Earlier this year, Aubrey received a weekly honor from the NFCA when she was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week for games played between March 23-29. For the season, she led UH-Hilo with a .425 batting average, clubbing four home runs and driving in 26 runs.

Salinas was named to the All-PacWest Second Team last week. She batted .323 with five home runs and 25 runs batted in. Her most important work, however, was done inside the pitcher’s circle, where she compiled an 18-8 record and a 1.98 earned run average in 183.2 innings pitched.
