Hilo side: Messy waist to head high waves are expected today with occasional plusses at the best breaks.
Kona side: Wave heights of ankle to thigh high are expected.
South: Wave heights of knee to shoulder high are expected. Messy trade swell is expected for the southeast coast up to waist or even head high.
Our current west-northwest swell is trending down for breaks on the Kona side.
A northwest boost is expected Thursday due to a storm in the Bering Sea. This should peak late Thursday hold through Friday and then begin to fade through the weekend. A small bump out of the northwest is also expected next weekend.
Tradeswell is expected to hold for the Hilo side this week. Conditions will be sloppy due to the onshore flow.
A small south-southwest is expected to build Wednesday and hold through the end of the work week. Nothing much on the horizon out of the South Pacific.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
