WalletHub Studies Best/Worst Environments for Women
WalletHub recently conducted research on the best and worst environments for women. All 50 states and the District of Columbia were analyzed across two key dimensions, “Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being” and “Women’s Health Care.”
Although the overall numbers have shown that there is still social progress needed in the country, Hawai’i stacks up well in comparison with the other states.
Hawai’i received an overall ranking of eight and a ranking of first in the category of women’s life expectancy at birth.
WalletHub analyzed the states based on 13 key metrics that range from median earnings for female workers to women’s preventive health care.
Among the top five rankings, Hawai’i earned a tie with Nebraska for the number four ranking of lowest unemployment rate for women. The state also ranked fourth for highest share of women-owned businesses and lowest female uninsured rate.
On the other hand, Hawai’i ranked in the bottom five in two categories. When it came to the percentage of women who voted in the 2012 presidential election, the State ranked 49th. Hawai’i also ranked dead last for lowest median earning for female workers.
The overall ranking number of “Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being” for Hawai’i was noted in the study as 14, while the overall “Women’s Health Care” rank was sixth.
