Aloha Information Center Opening in Downtown Hilo
The Destination Hilo Aloha Information Station is scheduled to open at the kiosk near the Mo’oheau Bus Station.
The kiosk, opening on Nov. 22, will be home to Destination Hilo’s Ambassadors, who will provide information and assistance to visitors. The project is part of the organization’s Hilo Gateway Aloha Ambassador and Hawaiian Culture Program.
In addition to the information station, Hawaiian cultural events, including music, hula and other programs organized by Destination Hilo, will occur during lunch hour on Tuesdays at the Mo’oheau Park Bandstand.
With its roots dating to 1986, the organization began as a private, non-profit whose primary purpose has been to promote tourism in East Hawai’i and the Big Island.
Destination Hilo follows the mission of promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, while perpetuating authentic Hawaiian culture.
While striving to increase visitor satisfaction, extend length of stay, and provide innovative visitor activities while offering unique Hawaiian experiences, Destination Hilo also strives to improve the quality of life for residents by contributing to a healthy social and economic culture.
Destination Hilo is made possible through a partnership with the Hawai’i Tourism Authority and the County of Hawai’i Department of Research and Development, among many other local business and individual supporters.
