The Circus Is Coming To Hilo, Kona
The Modern American Circus will be visiting Hilo and Kona on its inaugural visit to the Big Island.
Performances will take place under the Big Top at Hoolulu Sports Complex, 799 Piilani St., in Hilo Oct. 25-27, and at the Old Kona Airport Runway Nov. 1-3.
The MAC features more than 30 artists performing contemporary aerial, ground and stand-up acts utilizing the traditional circus tent and center ring in a 105-minute show.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, at 1, 4 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and Sunday at 1 p.m., at both locations.
The circus will visit Oahu, Molokai, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai on its 10-week island tour.
A MAC release said the show hopes to attract up to 60,000 people in Hawaii and move on to the Philippines and Guam.
“Our vision is to continue to add venues as we evolve and grow and make The MAC a world class, family-oriented, traveling circus,” a spokesman said. “We can bring a world class venue to any size audience.
“The ‘Big Top’ can be put up in less than a day and taken down in less than half a day.”
