Police have identified a man whose body was found Friday at the bottom of an 80-foot cliff in North Kohala as Patrick S. Yamura, 42, of Hawi.
Yamura’s body was spotted by a shoreline fisherman at the area of Hapu`u Bay, near Kapanaia Point.
An unattended vehicle was found parked at the top of the cliff.
Because of the area’s inaccessibility, a specialized rescue team was brought from the Kailua-Kona Fire Station to retrieve the body.
Yamura was taken to North Kohala Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The case has been classified a coronor’s inquest, and an autopsy has been ordered.
Police said they do not suspect foul play.
