Police Again Ask For Help Solving February Hit-and-Run

Police are renewing their request for the public’s help solving a February hit-and-run case involving a pedestrian in Kealakekua.

The 71-year-old victim, Francisco Asuncion, was walking north on the mauka shoulder along Highway 11 in the area of Hokukano Road when he was struck.

The accident was reported to police at 1:32 a.m. The driver fled the scene.

Police are looking for a dark-colored Nissan sedan with damage to the front end and hood, and possibly the windshield.

A negligent homicide case has been initiated in the death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311,

Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181.
