Rainwater Harvesting Class Set For Nov. 14

A class on rainwater harvesting will be held Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Hawaii Innovation Center at 117 Keawe St. (across from the Kress Cinema) in Hilo.

The event is hosted by Green Collar Technologies, a non-profit group that offers a variety of educational initiatives in sustainable living.

Taught by Brent Norris, the class is designed for homeowners, farmers, gardeners on or off the grid, as well as anyone looking for green industry career enhancement.

The class looks at the historical perspective of water harvesting as well as legal considerations.

Attendees will learn about collection and storage techniques, system sizing, design, filtration, treatment, and uses.

Participants will also gain the basic know-how to install their own rainwater harvesting system, including the best approach for their climate and budget. The class also includes a question-and-answer session with instructor.
