Waikoloa Burglaries Result in Arrest of Siblings
A brother and sister who live in Waikoloa were arrested last week in connection with a series of burglaries earlier this month in the South Kohala town.
Crystal Beban, 29, was arrested on suspicion of burglary while her brother, 32-year-old Jeffry Wayne McBride Beban Jr., was arrested on two counts of burglary and two counts of criminal trespass.
Both have been released without charges pending further investigation.
Police said Crystal Beban was arrested in connection with an incident that occurred on either Aug. 11 or 12, when someone entered a home on Kehela Place and took jewelry, clothing and electronic equipment. Police said following her arrest, officers allegedly recovered $500 worth of jewelry and clothing.
Her brother’s arrest stemmed from two incidents, including one on Aug. 13 in which a Pakanu Street home was entered and an electronic game player and several games were stolen.
The other occurred on Aug. 14, when a Waikoloa couple told police they saw a man leaving the driveway of their Lina-Poepoe Street home. The man told the couple he had been in their back yard rescuing a dog from their swimming pool. When the couple went inside their home they found that a screen had been removed and two laptop computers were missing.
Anyone with information about break-ins in the Waikoloa area is asked to call Officer Joshua Dumont at 887-3082 or the police department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
