Woman Charged For Drugs, Stealing Rental Car
Big Island police have arrested a 29-year-old Kona woman who allegedly stole a rental car.
Police said they were informed on March 4 that Michelle T. Regohos had failed to return a 2012 Nissan Altima sedan she had rented from the Kona airport. A bulletin was issued for the woman and the car.
Around noon on Tuesday, a Kona patrol officer found Regohos in the car in Kailua-Kona. Police said the license plates on the car had been changed.
Officers executing a search warrant on the vehicle allegedly found 31 zip packets and a glass smoking pipe, all of which had residue believed to be of methamphetamine. Other drug paraphernalia was also allegedly found.
Police late Wednesday charged Regohos with seven offenses including car theft, two counts of promoting a dangerous drug, two counts of drug paraphernalia and two counts of theft for allegedly stealing license plates.
She was initially held in lieu of $11,500 bail.
