UHH’s Hurley Earns PacWest Player of the Week Award
The PacWest conference has given it’s final Player of the Week award to league’s preseason Player of the Year pick, Hillary Hurley of the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Hurley’s late start to the season after her volleyball team’s run to the NCAA regionals, combined with nagging injury problems, may keep her from winning the yearly award this season, but no one can deny the numbers she has put together over the last few weeks of the season. The senior finished the season by recording five consecutive double-doubles, and averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game on the season, ranking fourth and first, respectively, in those categories.
Over the final week of the year, Hurley led the conference by averaging 14.5 rebounds per game. She was second in scoring (24 points per game) and fifth in shooting (63.0%).
Now that the season is over, Hurley will go back to concentrating on Volleyball. She recently told us that she has an overseas tryout to play professional volleyball in the next few months.
