Unplayable weather conditions forced the postponement of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division I championship game between Hilo and Waiakea at Wong Stadium.

Rain forced a delay of an hour and 32 minutes during the Division II championship game, forcing the total length of that game to go past four hours. The Division I contest was slated to start at 5:30 p.m.

Both teams were warming up to get their game started before the rain returned, bringing the tarp out at 7:54 p.m. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., members of the grounds crew, along with members of both teams, attempted to dry the field while the rain subsided, but could not get far in their work because the rain returned at about 8:45 p.m. The BIIF postponed the contest due to the field conditions and the unpredictability of the weather.

The pitching probables are likely to change, considering that both teams will be playing in the Wally Yonamine Foundation / Hawai`i High School Athletic Association Division I Championships beginning Wednesday on Maui. Hilo was scheduled to pitch Cody Kaniho, and the Warriors were planning to counter with the first start of the season for Kodi Medeiros.
