Help Sought Solving Kona Store Robbery Last Weekend

Police today asked for the public’s help solving an armed robbery that took place at a convenience store in Kailua-Kona this past weekend.

Police responding to an alarm at 3 a.m. Sunday learned that two men had entered the store. One pointed a handgun at a female clerk and demanded money. The other went behind the counter and took cigarettes and lighters.

The pair took the merchandise and an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

Police said the robbery took place at a store on Kuakini Highway near the Kalani Street intersection.

Both men had their faces covered, but were believed to be between 18 and 20 years old.

One was between 5-foot-6 and 6-feet tall and weighed about 170 pounds. He was wearing black shoes with red laces; shorts that were black, red, yellow and green; and a red hooded jacket with gold embroidery on the lower rear, right side of the hood and right breast.

The other was between 5-feet and 5-foot-6 and 150 to 180 pounds. He wore a black skull cap beanie, a black long-sleeved shirt, light shorts, dark shoes and was carrying a black backpack.
