Motorists are asked to be alert and drive with care as military units are scheduled to convoy between Kawaihae Docks and the Pōhakuloa Training Area (PTA), beginning Thursday, July 12, 2018.

Convoys will travel from Kawaihae Docks to PTA, July 12 through 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will return from PTA to Kawaihae Docks, July 20 through 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Additionally during July, community members may notice an increase in convoys and military training, to include aviation activities, at and around Pōhakuloa as a result of the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. Military activity at the port of Kawaihae will also increase as units arrive and depart with their equipment.

“RIMPAC occurs every other year, and you may hear increases in training noise or experience highway delays due to traffic,” said Lt. Col. JR Borce, commander, PTA. “We greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support of our military forces as they conduct this important training.”
