Big Island Surf Forecast
Hilo side: Wave heights for spots exposed to the swell are expected to be shoulder/head high today. Spots without direct exposure to the swell will be smaller.
Kona side: Wave heights are expected to be waist high today.
South: Wave heights are expected to be waist high or less today out of the southwest. Spots with exposure from wind waves could be shoulder high or more.
Short period northerly swell is expected to fade over the next few days. The Kona side will be largely blocked, most of the energy will be felt along the north and northeast coasts. A small northwest is filling in.
Our current south-southwest swell is expected to fade this week. Only minor pulses detected further out. Wednesday and Thursday waist high southerly mix expected. Middle of next week we could a moderate swell. Will keep an eye on it.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
