Nighttime airfield maintenance will continue at Hilo International Airport this week, causing the overnight closure of Runway 8-26 from Monday, Sept. 14 through Friday, Sept. 18 from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on each day.
The Hawai’i Department of Transportation advises that an increase in air traffic over the Hilo and Keaukaha areas may be noticeable to those communities as Runway 3-21 is used instead.
In addition to the nighttime work, the contractor will work at both ends of the runway during the day to reduce night work.
