No Tsunami Threat Following 7.5M Santa Cruz Islands Earthquake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i following a 7.5 magnitude earthquake in the Santa Cruz Islands.

According to the PTWC, the earthquake occurred Friday at 4:36 p.m.

United States Geological Survey officials say the earthquake was located 47 miles west-northwest of Lata, Solomon Islands; 365 miles east of Honiara, Solomon Islands; 375 miles north-northwest of Luganville, Vanuatu; 544 miles north-northwest of Port-Vila, Vanuatu; and 722 miles east-southeast of Arawa, Papua New Guin.
