Forrest Keesler, arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder following an incident in the Fern Acres Subdivision, was charged Sunday with second-degree murder.

According to police, Keesler was arrested after officers responded to a call regarding a domestic incident. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, who has been identified as Jeffery Kelly of Mountain View, unconscious.

Kelly was taken to Hilo Medical Center after being tended to by medics. He died shortly after.

Authorities say Keesler’s bail was set at $250,000 and he remains at the Hilo police cellblock pending his initial court appearance on Tuesday.
