A multi-million dollar renovation project is in the works for the Big Island’s only indoor shopping center.

It was announced Monday that Prince Kuhio Plaza will undergo renovations beginning this spring. Among the feature changes are new finishes, updated soft seating areas, column treatments, and patterned flooring.

According to the plaza’s market manager, Robyn Gee Tucker, the work will be done during off-peak times, when the mall is closed. All of the work is expected to be completed before the 2015 holiday season with the hope that the changes will transform the mall’s interior.

The announcement of the renovations follows the recent opening of Pier 1 Imports and Sketchers. A company official for Old Navy also confirmed with Big Island Now in March that a store is planned to open at the plaza in mid-October.
