One Ka`u man is in the hospital in critical condition and another is dead following an attempted murder-suicide Wednesday night in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.
Police said at about 7 p.m., the two men living in separate dwellings on the same property got into an argument. One man, age 37, went into his house. The other man, 48, followed him in and shot him, police said.
The 48-year-old man then stepped out of the house and fatally shot himself.
The victim was transported to Kona Community Hospital and then to Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
The identity of the 48-year-old man is being withheld pending notification of his family.
