The boat launch ramp at Puako will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 7-8, for removal of a portion of the loading dock which collapsed during high surf on Dec. 20.

State Department of Land and Natural Resources spokeswoman Deborah Ward said the broken portion of the concrete dock will be removed by Isemoto Contracting Co.

The boat launch will reopen to the public on Thursday, Jan. 9, but without a loading dock for boaters.

The DLNR is currently seeking bids for construction of a temporary wood dock replacement, which would be built on existing concrete pilings.
