Hawi Man Charged With Meth Trafficking

Police have filed drug charges against a man and a woman arrested following the serving of a search warrant at a Hawi home.

The search Tuesday of the Hiwahiwa Street home resulted in the seizure of 120 grams of a crystalline substance and paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use and distribution, police said.

Steven Pang, 46, and Nicole Hayes, 26, were arrested at the scene.

Pang was charged today with first-degree meth trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $52,000.

Hayes was charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $4,000.

Both remained in the Hilo cellblock pending an initial court appearance.

Police are encouraging members of the public to report suspected narcotics activity to the Hawaii Police Department’s Ice Hotlines at 329-ZERO-ICE (329-0423) for information pertaining to the Districts of Kaʻa, Kona, South Kohala and North Kohala, and at 934-VICE (934-8423) for information pertaining to the districts of Puna, South Hilo, North Hilo and Hamakua.
