The Big Island Auto Club completed its annual Labor Day Drags Sunday at the Hilo Drag Strip. The event was held on Sat., Aug. 31 and Sun., Sep. 1.

The fastest car on the track belonged to Hilo’s Lance Wilson, who drove his Pontiac GT at 191 miles per hour in 7.50 seconds.

Kiah Taroma of Hilo pulled off a Quick 8 double over the weekend, winning the bracket on both days. On Saturday, her Camero ran at 162 miles per hour in 8.37 seconds. A day later, she clocked in at 161 miles per hour in 8.30 seconds.

Drag racing action continues Oct. 5-6 at the Hilo Drag Strip.
