Police Name Victims in Recent Fatal Crashes

Big Island police today identified the victims who died in two recent separate one-car crashes.

Police said Clint A. Corfman of Kurtistown was the man killed early Aug. 2 in a crash near Pahala.

Corfman, 39,  was driving southbound on Highway 11 between the 48- and 49-mile markers when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road and overturned. The crash was reported to police at 12:43 a.m.

The man who died July 29 from injuries suffered six days earlier in an accident off South Point Road was identified as Steven T. Cross of Hilo.

On July 23, the 25-year-old Cross was northbound when his 2001 Mercury sedan ran off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and rolled several times. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle in the incident reported to police at 8:47 a.m.
