A 62-year-old Ka`u man has been arrested following a shooting incident Sunday afternoon in Ocean View.

Police said the victim, a 66-year-old Ocean View man, was at the home of longtime acquaintance John O’Leary when O’Leary allegedly fired several shots from a 22-caliber revolver, with one of the bullets hitting the victim in the thigh.

The victim struggled with O’Leary and took away the firearm. O’Leary then allegedly used a baseball bat to strike the other man in the elbow.

The victim drove away in his car with the handgun, went home and called 911. He was taken to Kona Community Hospital where he was treated and later released.
