State to conduct monthly test on warning siren system throughout Hawaiian Islands

The siren test will be coordinated with a test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System.

During the test, all outdoor warning sirens statewide will sound a 1-minute steady tone, with a test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System conducted at roughly the same time in cooperation with the Hawai‘i broadcast industry.

The all-hazard Outdoor Siren Warning System for Public Safety is one part of the Hawai‘i Statewide Alert and Warning System used to notify the public during emergencies.

Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency launches siren status map

The interactive map displays fully operational sirens in green. Sirens that require maintenance which the Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency can perform unassisted are shown in yellow. Sirens which need maintenance that must be performed with contracted assistance are shown in red. Sirens which are beyond repair are shown in black.

The monthly test of the all-hazard Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System is scheduled for Jan. 3 at 11:45 a.m.

Monthly Test Scheduled For Sirens, Emergency Alert System

If you hear a siren or emergency alert shortly before noon on Thursday, Sept. 1, don’t fret. Unless there is severe weather in the area, it’s only a test.

Monthly Test of Statewide Warning Sirens Scheduled This Week

The state is notifying the public that the monthly test of the all-hazard Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Friday, July 1.
