Brush Fire Closes Family Court of the Third Circuit
A brush fire burning in West Hawai’i has caused the closure of the Family Court of the Third Circuit.
The court, which is located along Nalani Street in Kailua-Kona, reportedly has excessive smoke coming into the building from the fire.
Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald issued an order that will extend the deadlines of cases affected by the closure.
Any documents due during the closure have until the end of the day on Thursday to be considered timely. In addition, hearings or trials canceled by the closure will be rescheduled to the next available date.
The court will reopen on Thursday morning under normal operating hours.
