Laupahoehoe Woman Injured in Fall From Cliff

A 53-year-old Laupahoehoe woman was injured this afternoon after she fell 50 feet off a cliff near her home.
Personnel from the Hawaii Fire Department responding to a 1:04 p.m. call found the woman laying on the Old Laupahoehoe Point Road hiking trail. The woman was awake and alert, the department said in a statement.
Paramedics transported the woman about a quarter-mile up the trail. From there she was taken by helicopter to Hilo Medical Center.
